Over the past few years, we've seen Michael Lane express both positive upheaval and pain through his music. Personal stories that we can identify with. Now it's time for Michael Lane's new album, Traveling Son (Greywood/Timezone), out October 25th. "Traveling Son" portrays the story of a six-year-old boy who traveled 7,000 miles with his mother to a place that never became home. For the first time, the album includes, in addition to numerous original compositions, titles that were written together with other musicians, who let their own personality infuse. Thus “Traveling Son” becomes a common expression of fragility. In "Believe", the album's first single, Michael Lane is not afraid to step against modern social norms and invites the listener to rediscover their own perspective, even their stubbornness. "Believe" encourages the repressed version of yourself to break free from the shackles to follow your dreams.
The German-American got to know many facets of life. As a 20-year-old soldier in the US Army in Iraq, stationed a little later in Afghanistan and at the same time with a great penchant for music, Michael Lane was able to experience the extremes of life early on: Separation from war and unity in music. "As a soldier I witnessed the cruel absurdity of the war. It is inconceivable to me what must happen in other people to make such conditions possible. After that it was clear to me that I had to find a way in my own way to do Something against this madness. Music was my key. It connects people to each other and I want to contribute to that."
