David Lübke's "Fahrender Sänger" is an extraordinary album full of simple beauty. During the pandemic, Lübke caused a sensation as a "songwriter on the roll": He traveled across Germany and sang for the people on their doorsteps. What began as a creative reaction to the concert cancellations turned into a promising journey that brought the singer to a nationwide audience and brought him into conversation with the people of the population.
On the way he collected folk songs, which his unexpected hosts sang for him at the campfire or at the dinner table. The 27-year-old has now immortalized some of these songs on his new album.
The twelve titles were arranged with a brilliantly cast folk band (Jens Kommnick: guitar, Moritz Brümmer: cello, Filip Sommer, viola/mandolin, Jörg Fröse: concertina), which Lübke completed with his characteristic voice.
