When asked what genre of music the Black Tales fit into, Maiorano never quite knows how to respond. The band has matured in a way that makes that answer difficult to pinpoint. Maiorano and, drummer, Alessio D’Alessandro moved from Sulmona, Italy to Berlin in an effort to meet and perform with new musicians and to reach a broader audience. They started as a blues/folk act, rearranging songs that Maiorano had written for his solo act a year before. As new members joined, The Duke and Rieko Okuda on saxophone and keyboards respectively, they brought their own styles with them, adding funk and soul to Maiorano and D’Alessandro’s punk and rock n roll background. The blending aspects of all of these genres combined with the passion of the artists evolved their sound into something new and unique. While The Black Tales may not subscribe to a strict adherence to the roots of their influences, they convey the feeling of each with confidence and skill combined with an attitude all their own.

Nach anderthalb Jahren formierte sich aus dem Duo Hannibal Slim und Captain Boogie die fünfköpfige Band Coconut Kings. Die Band spielte (und probte) zunächst nur auf den Straßen, wo sie neben Spaß auch etwas Geld machen konnte.
Alle Mitglieder der Band aus dem Wallis in der Schweiz teilen die Zuneigung zu amerikanischer, schwarzer Musik der Jahre 1900 bis zu den späten 1960ern: Swing, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Delta-Blues und vor allem Rhythm’n’Blues sowie schmutziger Rock’n’Roll. Neben Howlin‘ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Bunker Hill und diverser Releases von Chess Records zählen einige Filme von Jim Jarmusch, der Coen-Brüder und Bücher von Henry Charles Bukowski zu ihren Inspirationsquellen.

In 2010, a quiet kid from Delft gives his first stomps on a foot-based drum set while playing some guitar tunes. Having only drummed in punk bands prior, the feeling of total control is addictive. The first gig may just as well have left him a junkie, and he decides he perhaps shouldn’t feed the beast. That lasts for a year, but this thing is gonna stick, and eventually more shows follow in the coming years that start to drive his crazy train. His screams get louder, his stomps get harder and his guitar gets grittier, until he is quiet no more.
More and more a finger-picking rockabilly sound gets infused with noisy garage punk and bluesy slide guitar, and it is time to put this dirt out there. The first songs start to surface in 2014 on an eight-song running cassette tape ‘All taped up’, and later that year on a dutch garage vinyl compilation album. However, not until now is Dead Cat Stimpy fully ready to blast through your speakers with a full album release. Perhaps playing with personal heroes through the years such as Beat-Man and the Monsters, Puta Madre Brothers, John Schooley and Demented Are Go inspired him to chase his own sound, or perhaps the old punk DIY attitude drove him, but the new record is entirely self-recorded and produced by this Dutch one-man band.

Diese Langspielplatte lohnt sich, hier gibt es zwölf moderne Rock’n’Roll Kracher vom talentierten Liedkomponisten Dirk Geil, bekannt auch als Gastgeber des Bonn Stomp – der Konzertserie für abseitige Musik in der ehemaligen Hauptstadt des Westens.  Eine Zeitung schrieb über die norddeutsche Gruppe Trio, ihr erste Platte sei brutal und pervers – dies könnte man auch über Dirk Geils Debüt sagen. Er hat alle Lieder des Albums anläßlich seines 50. Lebensjahres selber produziert und macht aus seinen musikalischen Einflüssen wie Rock’n’Roll, Country, Garage Rock und Trio kein Geheimnis.
Zwölf internationale Gassenhauer, die zum Mitsingen animieren. Gewagt, schamlos und meist in deutsch werden geltende Moralbegriffe in Frage gestellt und es gibt keine sprachlichen Mehrdeutigkeiten. Die Musik beschränkt sich auf das Notwendigste und das bedeutet in diesem Fall das wilde Getrommel der griechischen Intensiv-Trommlerin Ioanna Fenderson und Gitarren und nochmals Gitarren – von einem Bass findet sich keine Spur.
Musikalisch sind hier einige illustre Musiker zu Gast. Ganz vorneweg zu nennen ist die deutsch-griechisch-britische Begleitband „The Fendersons“, welche auch schon bei Jonah Gold & His Silver Apples (Off Label Records) als zuverlässige Kapelle gelten. An der Pedal-Steel-Gitarre ist Jancee Warnick vom bekannten Pornick Casino (Gagarin Beat Records) zu hören, Slim Oddball von der Oddballs Band (Alien Snatch, Sympathy For The Record Industry) spielt nach langer Pause bei zwei Liedern mit, T-Man von den Juke Joint Pimps (Voodoo Rhythm Records) ist lautstark dabei, sheyk rAleph von Grombira (Tonzonen Records) prägt mit seiner elektrischen Saz die Space-Orgie „The Galactic Chin“ und der verschollen geglaubte Elvis Pummel hat auf diesem Album auch einen Auftritt.
Alles Live aufgenommen in einem richtigen Tonstudio und das hört man auch. Es lohnt sich also mal wieder ein Schallplatte zu kaufen. Super-Deluxe-Schwergewichts-Vinyl, Textblatt und ein CD erwartet den Käufer, wobei die CD nicht im Einzelverkauf erhältlich ist. Einen Download Code mit den einzelnen Titeln gibt es nicht, den braucht es auch nicht – geht es hier doch ausschließlich um die Sinnesfreuden eines physikalischen Tonträgers. Und die Zielgruppe ist auch klar definiert: nur für Erwachsene.

„They Called Us Country“ ist eine Zusammenfassung von Blues-Country-Swamp-Garage-Songs, zwischen 1999 und 2002 entstanden. Darunter Coverversionen von Lee Hazelwood und Lou Reed, aber auch eigene Songs.
Das Vinyl wurde standesgemäß in Szene gesetzt und es ist auf 500 Exemplare limitiert.

Dirk Geil ... bekannt als Gastgeber des hiesigen Bonn Stomp – der wohl einzig wahren Konzertserie für modernen Rock'n'Roll in Europa – ist darüber hinaus auch noch als talentierter Liedkomponist und vollendeter Entertainer bekannt, der unzählige, vorpubertäre Lieder zum Mitsingen erfunden hat.
Riesenerfolge feierten diese Lieder über die Jahre aber nur in den entlegensten Kammern seiner schmutzigen Vorstellungskraft. Im Alter von nun 46 Jahren fragte er die Voodoo Rhythm Gruppe Juke Point Pimps, die rohen und primitiven Blues im Rheinland zu spielen pflegen, ob sie wohl ein fünfzehn Jahre altes Lied mit ihm spielen würden, und sie stimmten zu.
Hier können Sie nun The Boner hören, eine ausgelassene und pulsierende Darbietung und wohl einer der eindrucksvollsten Lieder von heute. Zusätzlich kommen Sie in den Genuss einer festtäglichen Version des Boner, welche unter dem Decknamen Santa Geil & His Red Nosed Pimps extra mit Schlittenglöckchen für die Veröffentlichung zum aktuellen Weihnachtsfest aufgenommen wurde. Die Jungs von „Grey City Passengers“ sind eine Berliner Rock'n'Roll-Band, welche der Sänger Fab Cirotti 2013 in die Gänge brachte. Im gleichen Jahr schon brachten sie ihre erste Single „Hot Gold“ auf Tornado Ride/Grey City Records raus. Nach darauffolgenden, unzähligen Gigs in- und außerhalb der Hauptstadt erschien 2014 ihre zweite Single „Gotta Stop“. „Gut Ding will Weile haben“ oder so ähnlich - zu Beginn sah man innerhalb der Besetzung einige „Passengers“ kommen und gehen, bis die Chemie letztendlich stimmte.
Mittlerweile sind es Julien Lasala (Schlagzeug), sowie F. Potenzano und Tito Lee (Gitarren), die um Cirotti den inspirierenden Kreis bilden. 2016 ist nun das Veröffentlichungsjahr ihres Albums „Grey City Passengers“, welches auf off label records erscheint. Zehn Songs, geballter Rock'n'Roll, inspiriert vom guten Dirt der Siebziger und mit einem Touch Berliner Mystik. Entsprechend sind die Live-Shows der Jungs eine Wucht, so daß das Tanzbein garantiert geschwungen werden wird!

Sollte im Jahre 2013 wirklich noch Rock'n'Roll gespielt werden? “Unbedingt!” muss die Antwort lauten, wenn es so authentisch und frisch klingt wie auf dieser Platte. Hier wird auf keinen Trend geschielt, sondern eine mitreißende Hommage an die Vorbilder der eigenen Vorbilder präsentiert.
Konsequent wurde auf Studio Schnickschnack verzichtet und hauptsächlich mit 2 Raummikrofonen live aufgenommen. Dennoch oder wohl genau deswegen sitzt jede Eins, wo sie hingehört, twängt die Gitarre wie in den 50ern und man ist ganz nah bei Frontfrau Jenny Thrill, wenn sie gesteht, dass sie diese “Sweet Nothin's” ganz durcheinander bringen.
Schnell die Scheibe umgedreht - hier geht es rauher und mit sauberer Dreiakkordarbeit und einem fabelhaften Saxophon von Molly Duncan weiter, der das auch bereits für Tom Petty oder die Eurythmics erledigt hat. Das Tanzbein zuckt und ist bereit für den Allnighter. Es ist klar, dass diese Single aus einem entscheidenden Grund erscheint: Liebe zur Musik und zu den Wurzeln.

Ihre selbstproduzierte Single "Thrillkillhillbillyrhythm / Synthetic Sunshine" wurde bereits von der Polizei beschlagnahmt und eingeschmolzen, sickerte dann durch den Kern der Erde, kam auf der anderen Seite wieder heraus und ist seitdem äußerst beliebt in Guangdong.
Und jetzt sind diese vier verbotenen Früchtchen wieder zurück, um ihr erstes Album "Pollute the Airwaves" auf euch loszulassen.  Von der Einleitung mit Blues-Punk Pate Rob Kennedy (u.a. Workdogs) bis zum letzten Track "I want it back", ist jeder Song ein Killer,der euch das Hirn weggebläst und die Gedärme rausreißt!
Das Album wurde live, analog und an einem einzigen Wochenende in den El Monte Studios Dortmund eingespielt, gemischt von Bart El Monte (Elvis Pummel, Fuzztones etc.) und gemastered von Crypt Records- Kopf Tim Warren.

„Laino & Broken Seeds“ ist ein Projekt, das im Jahr 2013 in New York City geboren wurde, als ein Italiener an einem Scheideweg seines Lebens in einer verrauchten Bluesbar auf der Upper West Side ankam. Mit einem Notizbuch voller Geschichten kehrte er nach Italien zurück und setzte diese auf einer Resonatorgitarre in Songs um, die er dann als Straßenmusiker auf den Straßen von Bologna unters Volk brachte.
„Geboren auf den Bürgersteigen meiner Stadt, ist dieses Projekt tief verwurzelt in der Tradition der Straßenmusik. Ich singe Songs über das Alltagsleben, Träume und persönliche Mythen. Im Einklang mit meinen musikalischen Wurzeln (Delta-Blues, Primitive American) komponiere ich meine Stücke am liebsten in einer einzigen offenen Gitarrenstimmung (Offene G-Stimmung) und versuche so, die Songs auf verschiedenste Weisen auszuleuchten. Für mich ist das eine Art ‚Land‘, in dem ich geheimnisvolles Samen säe; manchmal werden sie von der Zeit schlecht behandelt, verbrennen oder gehen kaputt. Und dennoch wachsen aus ihnen Früchte.“

Laura St. Jude (geboren am 2. April 1992) ist eine Sängerin, Songwriterin und Musikerin aus Glasgow, Schottland. Laura ist eine romantische Realistin. Sie durchforstet die Tiefen der Melancholie, ohne den Banalitäten des Selbstmitleids zu erliegen, und zeigt ihren Hörern, dass inmitten all der Dunkelheit stets Hoffnung vorhanden ist. Laura wird in Kürze auf Off Label Records eine 7" mit zwei A-Seiten veröffentlichen, die im Green Door Studio in Glasgow aufgenommen und gemastert wurde. Darauf zu finden sein werden „I Can’t Stop Loving You“ und „Yours to Destroy“, beide geschrieben von Laura St. Jude. Im Verlauf der letzten beiden Jahre war Laura extensiv auf Tour mit der Rock 'n Roll-Band The Amazing Snakeheads in England und Europa und übernahm dort den Gastgesang, die Gitarre und Percussion. Den Höhepunkt stellten Support-Shows für Jack White in Paris und London dar. Zusammen mit Dale Barclay, dem Frontman und ihrem Lebenspartner, schrieb sie „The Bullfighter“, eine B-Seite der Amazing Snakeheads. „The Bullfighter“ wurde 2014 auf Domino Records veröffentlicht.

Dirt, dirt, dirt. That what Germany’s so-called ‚Ruhrpott‘ region is known for. The Dortmund 4-piece Lynx Lynx is proud of this origin. Dirt’s stuck deep down in their lungs. Over the years, parents, teachers, and friends have failed cleaning up their grubby hands and faces. There was only one way to go: rubbing it off on guitar picks, drum sticks, and mics. That worked out very well!
After their recent 10inch ‘Trailer Park’, their upcoming full-length album called ‘7’ will be released again through off label records/Timezone. This 11-track LP offers a raw mix ranging from hip shaking garage tunes and fuzz’o’delic blues-punk to cheap 70s drum computer noise pop. It is recorded live & eight-track with Fuzztones engineer Bart el Monte. The album comes as LP (with download codes, 300 copies only!), CD, and funky pink MC.

Als Carlos Val & Jonas Grosch mit der Drehbucharbeit zu „bestefreunde“ begannen und ihre Hauptfigur Susi Q entwickelten, hatten sie dabei zwei Frauen im Kopf. Zum einen die Schauspielerin und Schwester von Jonas Grosch Katharina Wackernagel, die Susi Q. spielen sollte und zum anderen die Musikerin Mojo Juju, deren Songs Susi Qs Innenleben eine „Stimme“ geben sollte. Vor allem „Transient Being“ und „My Home“, die beide sehr präsent im Film eingesetzt sind, erzählen eine ähnliche Geschichte, wie die von Susi Q.

Writer and journalist Joan Didion, born in Sacramento and prominent author of nonfiction, argues that “California is a place in which a boom mentality and a sense of Chekhovian loss meet in uneasy suspension”.
This definition perfectly fits what happens in this first work by Oh Lazarus. Good Times is a nameless sound spreading through the dark curves of these 10 songs, crossing the Death valley, the Sonora desert, the stages of Max’s Kansas City and Green Mills, and the long, foggy plains that surround the Po river.

Their first record “Good Times” explored genres and atmospheres that eluded any precise definition - now Oh Lazarus return with a brand new record, “Sailing”, which evolves their sound through an intricate mix of eleven tracks.
After the light-hearted journey of their first record, Oh Lazarus embark on an adventurous and mystical expedition. Defying the malice and the unpredictability of the river, Simone Merli (guitar), Daniele La Barbera (drums and percussions) and Cecilia Merli (vocals and clarinet) board their crumbling boat and carry the listener to a muddy juke joint, where the sounds of Nico and Violent Femmes merge in a rickety marriage.
The river journey rolls through eleven songs in which the trio combines elements of rural blues and Velvet Underground-style psychedelics, winking at roots rock. “Sailing” is entirely recorded live, without overdubs, and testifies to the group’s search for greater authenticity.
This production stems from the long collaboration between the trio and the German Off Label Records; it was recorded at Marco Alberto Matti’s Casemate Recording Studio and mastered in Chicago by Carl Saff.
“Sailing” will be out on 10 April 2020, in digital and vinyl format, enriched by the stunning illustrations of Nanà Dalla Porta, who - for this record too - brilliantly translates on paper the soundscape of Oh Lazarus.
And just like Jerome K. Jerome’s three men in a boat, the trio from Pavia, Italy, suggests to throw away useless rubbish: “Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need”.

Dass auch leise Momente im Innern laut werden können und kleine Gedanken zu großen Monstern, versteht man auch, ohne penibel auf den Text zu achten.
